SCHEDULES - SERVICES - SHOES

God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses.

And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither:

put off thy shoes from off thy feet,

for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father,

the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

Exodus 3:1-6

SHOES

More than half the population of Tower Hamlets embraces a faith that requires the removal of shoes when entering a place of worship. We are reminded the LORD commanded Moses when he stood before the burning bush to remove His shoes because he was standing on Holy ground in the presence of the LORD. And even now, night and day, the righteous seraphims cover their feet before the LORD of hosts as they cry to the thrice Holy God, “Holy, Holy, Holy.” With that in mind we remove our shoes and cover our feet upon entering the building to worship our God. Some of us use socks, others have church slippers to cover our feet with. We provide the same for all of our guests. For those who cannot participate in the removal of their shoes we have shoe coverings for you. The worship area is covered in carpet. The Apostle Paul wrote, “I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake.” Our prayer is that all men might be saved and to that end we endeavour to provide a warm welcoming environment to all those of other faiths.

For those attending the church services the museum is open before and after every scheduled service at no admission charge.
